Questions about Individual Assignments

 The following questions have been asked about the final individual assignment due at 5 pm on 7 May 2008 - Continuous Value Enhancement Process of Deck Structure. Please incorporate the following information as clarifications from the owner regarding the deck and its environment.

Q1: How high is the deck above grade?

A1: Please assume that the deck is 32" above grade. 

Q2: What ideas are there for value enhancing the deck?

Q3: Is the deck attached to the house?

A3: Yes, please assume the deck is attached to the house, or clearly state otherwise in your assumptions in your analysis.

Q4: What is the spacing of the deck posts supporting the deck?

A4: Please assume that there are six posts supporting the weight of the deck at a distance of 8' from the house. Assume that four of them under the lower part of the deck are spaced at 2', 6', 10', and 14' on center from the left side of the deck. The remaining two posts support the higher part of the deck and are spaced at 18' and 22' on center from the left edge of the deck. In other words, what you see in the isometric drawing is roughly correct.
